Green Home in Jericho finally closes
After a 2 month delay the Green home in Jericho at 53 Mellow Ln closed yesterday. The purchase price was $1,100,000. Century 21 Prevete handled the sale for the builder Matt Pantofel. Joe Tracz was the listing agent. The delay was caused by the town’s reluctance to give the builder the final certificate of occupancy becuase the home was heated and cooled by a geothermal system. This was the first new construction in the town using such a system and hopefully the next time this process can run smoother. The Town of Oyster Bay should be proud to have such a fine example of green technology. Hopefully other builders in the area will understand that our future is green.
Town of Babylon – the greenest town in Long Island
Of all the townships on Long Island, the town of Babylon is a leader in showing how local government can help make a green difference. Their Long Island Green Homes program http://ligreenhomes.com provides loans to homeowners up to $12,000 to pay for energy efficiency improvements to their home. Home owners pay back the loan at annual cost of something less than the total energy savings projected by Home Performance Evaluation which is conducted by a Town-licensed, BPI Accredited energy auditor. Similar proposals are in process in other towns, Brookhaven has one championed by councilwoman Connie Kepert but Town of Babylon should congratulted for stop talking and actually doing something positive for their citizens and our environment.

Just a month after the green showcase weekend the green home at 53 Mellow Lane in the East Birchwood section of Jericho NY was placed under contract. Over 400 people viewed the home and more than 4 offers were entertained until the winning offer was accepted. Closing is contingent on the final CO which should be issued by the end of the month.

Beautiful Bright and Green
Here’s a gallery of photos of our Kohler fixtures
provided by Long Island’s premier plumbing supplier
Davis & Warshow
Besides being beautiful all these fixtures are low flow. But this is not your grandfather’s low flow – it is less water used with no decrease in water pressure. The sinks in the kitchen and bath are cast iron. They too are from recycled materials and are indestructible. They won’t dull, scratch or chip. Green is forever.

Just the right amount of water for the lawn at the green home in Jericho
Saving water is as important to the green home in Jericho as saving energy. A Solar Sync ET system from Hunter Industries was installed on the grounds of 53 Mellow Ln in Jericho NY by B&D Rain Systems based in Melville NY. This advanced system monitors the temperature, humidty and rainfall at the location and properly adjusts the amount of water used by the in-ground sprinkler system. Just in case you were wondering ET doesn’t stand for extra terrestrial but for evapotranspiration. Since a picture is worth a thousand words here is the picture explaining evapotranspiration in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evapotranspiration
